Annette's latest work is of Whitby's swing bridge "I was walking by the harbour and noticed the fishing boat approaching the swing bridge. It was just asking to photographed! I liked the ripples made in the water, and the way they were breaking up the reflections. The colours of blue sky and water, red/orange roof tops and the red bridge contrasted with the dark shadows under the bridge."
The photograph was converted to black and white, which was then reversed and printed onto a transfer paper. Colour was added with paint, and the image transferred to fabric. Extra colours were added with acrylic paint and coloured netting sewn on top. The white railings on the side if the bridge were emphasized with cotton stitches.
